Shockwaves ripple throughout Sooner Nation after the abrupt resignation of long-time coach Cale Gundy.
In Norman, many college students and followers are asking questions on what led to the departure – now wanting extra particulars.
The coach, who joined the Sooners as a participant in 1990, mentioned he determined to resign following an incident in final week’s movie session.
Gundy says a participant was distracted by one thing on his iPad. He says he picked it up and skim aloud what was on the display.
He went on to assert that earlier than he knew it he used a “shameful and hurtful phrase.”
Late Monday afternoon, Head Coach Brent Venables launched a press release saying the phrase was racially charged and Gundy used it a number of occasions.
Previous to the assertion from Venables, some followers in Norman mentioned they wished extra particulars and context prior to creating a touch upon the coach resigning. Most wished to know what precisely was mentioned.
Some believed if Gundy’s model was right, resignation could have been drastic. Others thought the response made sense if the phrases had been offensive.
Nonetheless, some followers merely expressed exhaustion saying it’s one more headline in a turbulent offseason.
